What You’ll Learn:
In these six sessions, you’ll get to know many aspects of yourself, learn exercises and practices for compassion and healing, and you’ll experience the basic IFS framework. Here’s an overview of the sessions:
May 16 - Getting to Know Each Other & Our Parts: introductions and forming as a group, getting to know what parts of us are activated around a challenging situation.
May 23 - Befriending Our Inner Critic: start to develop a trusting relationship with this inner judge so that it’s not as loud or harsh, but actually helps us to improve in meaningful ways.
June 6 (skipping Memorial Day) - Working with Reactivity: working with our "firefighters," our reactive parts that swoop in and take over under threats and stresses.
June 13 - Core Wounds and Old Beliefs: recognizing and caring for our tender parts that hold challenging emotions, core wounds and old beliefs.
June 20 - Cultivating Self-Leadership: accessing our best self that is compassionate, curious, and calm and letting this version of our Self lead the system.
June 27 - System Mapping + Integration: bringing together everything you’ve learned about yourself to see your system as a whole and set intentions moving forward.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidenced-based psychotherapy model and a powerful tool for transformation and healing. It starts with the premise that it's normal for every individual to have a number of sub-personalities or parts as well as a deeper core Self. We work compassionately with all parts. Our goal is to understand and ultimately heal them through connection with our core Self, which is compassionate, curious, creative, and calm. The IFS process helps you access more of these qualities within you. No familiarity with the IFS theory or process is needed.
